Adam Spencer: Being good at maths and money aren't the same thing

Maths whiz, raconteur, tv personality and author Adam Spencer has just released a new book, Maths 101, to support primary school students and help their parents understand the maths that is required in schools today. The idea for this book came from a friend who'd locked himself in the bathroom and called Adam after his seven-year-old son asked him why 1 wasn't a prime number. Spencer tells us that it’s not the maths that has changed over the years, it’s just the approach. However, he admits that being good at maths doesn’t mean you’re good with money.

He also discusses:

  • Why different people approach a maths problem differently
  • How practice makes perfect and why Adam loved maths throughout his school years
  • His guilty pleasure was chess books it’s now splurging on his partner.
